Celebrating Black-Owned Businesses: Spotlight on Our Participant Vickie

This Black History Month, we’re thrilled to celebrate the creativity, resilience, and community impact of Black-owned businesses in San Diego’s East Village. A recent segment on CBS 8 highlights several inspiring entrepreneurs, and we are especially proud to see our very own participant, Vickie, featured!

Vickie is the heart and soul behind Dancing Around the Oak Tree Art Studio, where she shares her passion for art and fosters a welcoming, creative space for the community. Her dedication not only brings beauty to the East Village but also serves as a shining example of how our participants continue to make a meaningful impact in the world around them.

The segment showcases the vibrancy and cultural richness that Black-owned businesses bring to San Diego, reminding us of the importance of supporting local entrepreneurs year-round. Seeing Vickie highlighted on such a platform is a proud moment for all of us at SDCLS, and it’s an inspiring reminder of the talent and drive within our community.
