This past Friday, August 29, 2025, the SDCLS staff and participants came together at Rohr Park in Bonita, CA for our much-anticipated Annual Summer BBQ Get-Together. The afternoon was filled with delicious food, lively games, and plenty of laughter, even if the hot summer sun kept us on our toes!
A Celebration of Community
Our Summer BBQ is one of our favorite traditions, offering a chance for everyone to step away from the day-to-day routine and simply enjoy one another’s company. It’s a time to share stories, connect, and celebrate the strength of our community in a relaxed, joyful setting.
Great Food, Thanks to Great People
The heart of the event was, of course, the food. With the expert grilling skills of our facilitators, Sam and Nader, guests enjoyed plates of fresh-off-the-grill BBQ alongside tasty sides and refreshing beverages. A very special thank you goes to our owner and director, Parvin, whose vision, dedication, and leadership made this gathering possible. Her behind-the-scenes effort brought every detail together seamlessly.
Fun, Games, and Lasting Memories
Beyond the food, the park came alive with music, lawn games, and even a bit of dancing, creating an atmosphere that was both festive and welcoming. Despite the heat, the smiles, laughter, and energy never faded.
(Word to the wise: we did run out of food this year, so next time, make sure to arrive early to get the best of the grill!)
